Our Annual Kerio Kai event is soon approaching.

Please contact the Centre @ 905-383-5755 to reserve your seats. We need to have an accurate count in order to ensure we have enough food for everyone.

The event is free for those over the age of 70.

There is a $25.00 charge for adults (under 70) and for 12 years and under the charge is $10.00.

We have changed the program to help keep it fresh and a bit more nostalgic at the same time!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Zumba

We are looking at the return of Zumba to the CJCC. We have some new instructors interested in bringing the program back.

Zumba is a Latin dance -inspired fitness program. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves. Squats and lunges are also included.

Iaido

(居合道, Iaidō^{) is a modern Japanese martial art associated with the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard.}

Kendo

^{(剣道, kendō), meaning ”Way of The Sword“, is a modern Japanese martial art of sword-fighting based on traditional Japanese swordsmanship, or  Kenjutsu. Kendo is a physically and mentally challenging activity that combines strong martial arts values with sport-like physical elements.}

 Belly Dancing

Belly Dancing has a long history, but in it’s modern form it is a wonderful exercise, emphasizing core body movement and strengthening . It is a fun class suitable for all age groups, including seniors! No experience is necessary.

Photo exhibit: Tohoku Region: Rebuilding for a Better Tomorrow.

The photo exhibit was a great success. Many thanks to Mr. Otsuka of the Japanese Counsel Generals office who was able to bring this moving photo display to the Centre.

We were able to have this display open to the public for 14 days and as a result hundreds passed through to see these inspiring photos.

It truly demonstrated how the world came together to help and the resilience and optimism of the Japanese people affected by the tragedy.

Many thank to the group of volunteers who kept the display open every day, and those who helped with the official opening event.

We hope to have the event run in the Fall. We will announce a new date as soon as the time is set. We had to cancel for Saturday, June 16, 2012 due to a scheduling conflict.

We will have a professional antiques appraiser in to assess your pieces.

You will be able to have up to two pieces appraised.

This promises to be a wonderfully exciting event! You never know what that item in your basement is really worth!

Please watch this space as it will be updated once we have confirmation of the time and appraisal costs.

This event will be held instead of our yard sale this year.

This wheel is the latest in a number of upgrades that we are currently working on for the Centre.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the Hamilton Potters Guild for their ongoing support of the pottery program here at the CJCC.

 We will have our first meeting to discuss revisions to the constitution. All CJCC members are welcome to join us. We welcome your ideas and input in enhancing our Constitution.
